Wine rooms and wine bars

The feeling of comfort is provided by the red brick walls and antique armchairs. The name is connected with French highway 74 that connects all of the principal Alsace wineries. The wine list contains only French wines. There aren’t many from Alsace, but the Burgundy wine collection is excellent and there is also wine from Savoy, which is a rarity in Russia.

The idea to open a wine bar in rotunda of a magnificent Kolobov House belongs to Katya Bokuchava, the owner of Mesto restaurant and a big wine lover. You can also find whiskey, grappa and Fentiman’s lemonade here, but the wine list is key. The wine list is unconventional and every selection is worth it. The prices are quite high but this doesn’t seem to faze the well-dressed guests, the majority of whom seem to be actors, businessmen and architects.<br />

In addition to craft beer and smoothies hipsters also like wine, especially if it’s served in a wine bar near Summer Garden. The local wine list is not too sophisticated but you can still make some interesting discoveries. You will have to solve the puzzle of coupling your wine with Pad Thai, but the more interesting, the better.

There are several Wine Studios in St. Petersburg, but this one is the first and the most impressive. The huge hall is full of metal racks with wine bottles. Surprisingly the room is full of students, all of them with wine glasses. The wine list has pictures and some details about different wines, which are sold by 125 ml (4 oz) and 375 ml (12 oz) glases and by bottles. The prices are affordable even to the university students.

This is a full-scale Mediterranean restaurant right near the entrance to the Mariinsky Theatre. Vincent is owned by the winner (and now a judge) of numerous sommelier competitions Leonid Sternik. His wine list is to die for. Leonid knows all of Russia’s wine vendors and he’s ready to buy full consignments of his favourite wines. Sternik is the only restaurant owner in St. Petersburg who can afford to buy the wine and let it keep for a few years, waiting for it to mature.

This is a wine shop and wine bar rolled into one: you can step in for a minute, exchange a couple of words with a sommelier, buy a bottle and walk out, or you can sit yourself down, order some appetisers and a main dish from the menu and spend the evening enjoying your wine and dinner. Just as long as there are places to sit down, it’s a small, but popular bar.

Anyone who is somewhat interested in wine (and every one who considers himself an expert) has to visit Big Wine Freaks. Original handmade champagne that you won’t find anywhere, even at Reims, biodynamic Pinot Noirs and Rieslings from around the world, the best of Russian wine-making - everything is possible. There are some appetisers for the wine, but it’s best to come here after dinner.

When people from the street come in, they are somewhat surprised by this wine bar’s design: there are concrete walls, red-tint lighting and a cage with wine bottles… But the first glass of wine calmes the nerves. The wine bar was opened by a group of sommeliers who are interested in biodynamic and organic wines and its wine car is unparalleled. And it’s a rare place in St. Petersburg that serves huge Kamchatka oysters together with its wine.

Despite being located on Smolny prospect – the restaurant is homely and warm. People come here to forget work and to drink a couple of glasses of wine.

Piano Piano’s carte offers more than 150 types of wine and the restaurant’s wine rack is designed to look like a big wooden barrel.
