Reconstruction works of Astrakhan stadium, which will become one of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ training bases, are to be over by the end of 2017, according to the city administration’s press service.
"Construction works are going according to plan, sports facilities and the administrative building are almost completely dismantled. Works on the foundation for new stands which will seat 15,000 people will begin in the nearest future. All of the works will be completed before the end of 2017," the press service said.
The administration also noted that the municipal stadium was earlier included in the list of training bases for teams participating in the 2018 World Cup and was closed for reconstruction in June last year. The works include completely new stands, squad sectors and press zones, the administrative building. Lighting poles will also be installed along with a new pitch, which will meet all international standards.
