80% of the population to take part in organising World Cup 2018 says Vitaly Mutko

The organising committee plans to include cities in Siberia and Far East ahead of the championship

80% of Russia’s population will take part in organising World Cup 2018, according a statement made by Vitali Mutko, head of the World Cup Organising Committee.

The committee plans to include cities in Siberia and Russia’s Far East: Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Khabarovsk and Kemerovo. Special fan zones and hospitality zones will be established in these cities.

Vitaly Mutko said: “We have made this decision as FIFA philosophy has the idea that world cups need to help countries develop national football and, on a grander scale, sports in general. This concept of FIFA is reflected in our own concept of Russia 2018. This includes the density of the cities and involvement of the who country
