Russian Post held the ceremony of the cancellation of a special stamp dedicated to Moscow on Tuesday.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Ambassador Aleksey Smertin took part in the ceremony of the cancellation of the special stamp, dedicated to Moscow as a host city of the 2018 World Cup.

Some of the main architectural sights of the Russian capital appear on a post card with the special stamp, including a city panorama with the Kremlin, while the stamp itself bears the World Cup emblem. 45,000 such stamps were released in total.
This is the first time I’m participating in such an important event. I’ve been fascinated by football since childhood and I want to thank everyone who contributed to fact that the championship will take place in Russia.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup philatelic programme started in summer 2015 in the framework of the events before the qualifying draw for the tournament. The official stamping ceremony of the artistic stamped envelope "Preliminary draw for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia™ was held on July 24.

The first series of post stamps for 2018 World Cup was released on September 18 - the day of the celebration of "1000 days before the World Cup." 200,000 copies of the stamp with the image of the World Cup was released.
