Aleksey Sorokin: Confederations Cup 2017 dispelles fears of holding large tournaments in Russia

FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 proved that Russia can perfectly cope with the hosting a major international football tournament. This was stated by the Local Organising Committee Russia 2018 CEO Aleksey Sorokin.

The Confederations Cup started on June 17 and will end on Sunday. The final game and the match for the third place will be held in Saint Petersburg and Moscow correspondingly. The matches of the tournament were also hosted by Sochi and Kazan.

"This is an unprecedented tournament for Russian football, it dispelled fears of holding major tournaments in Russia and set new standards for the organisation not only at the stadiums, but also beyond," said Sorokin.
