All Sochi schools to hold lessons on the 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2018 World Cup

Students will also learn about the World Cup volunteer programme

All school students of Sochi on September 1 will attend lessons on the history of the FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup and the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia™, according to the press service of the Sochi administration.

"Within the first lesson of the year, all Sochi schools will talk about the city hosting the 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2018 World Cup. The students will also learn about the Volunteer Program of the Championship," the press service said.

According to the city administration, on September 1, 70 schools will open their doors for around 35,000 students, including 7,000 first-graders.

The 2017 Confederations Cup matches will be held from June 17 to July 2, 2017 in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi. Currently, seven of the eight participants in the tournament are determined - the Russian national team (as the host country), Germany (2014 World Champion), Portugal (Euro 2016 champion), Australia (Asian 2015 Cup winner), Chile (2015 Copa América winner), Mexico (winner of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup), New Zealand (winner of the 2016 OFC Nations Cup). The last participating team will be determined after the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in January-February 2017.

The 2018 World Cup matches will be held from June 14 to July 15 at 12 stadiums in 11 cities of Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Ekaterinburg, Samara, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don. Sochi will host 4 group stage matches, as well as 1/8 meetings and 1/4 final.
