Apron reconstruction for new terminal of Nizhny Novgorod airport finishes by November 2016

Reconstruction of the apron in front of the new terminal building at the airport Strigino in Nizhny Novgorod will be completed by November 2016, according to the press service of the air hub.

"With the large-scale reconstruction of the apron there will be new parking places for aircraft that will meet all modern requirements. The project will be a new step in the future development of Strigino; it will help prepare infrastructure of the airport for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The bulk of the work on the reconstruction of the apron area in front of the new airport complex is planned for completion before November 2016," the press service said.

170 people and 56 units of equipment will be working at the construction site. "At the time of the reconstruction passenger service through telescopic passageways will not be carries out. Buses will be used for transporting people on board the aircraft,” the airport’s press service said.

According to the press service, currently the apron’s bearing capacity allows only Boeing B737 and Airbus A321 aircraft with a limited number of operations per day. The technical capabilities of the new airport complex, which was commissioned in March of this year, allow serving almost all types of aircraft without limitation through telescopic passageways.

The area of ​​the new terminal complex Strigino is 27,800 sq. m, capacity – is more than 1.5 mln people a year. The passenger terminal is equipped with four air bridges, 19 check-in desks. Parking lot is designed for 800 vehicles. Investment in the construction of a new terminal totaled around 4 bln rubles.
