Begishevo Airport in Tatarstan to be reconstructed for 2018 World Cup

Nearly 800 mln rubles ($) from the federal budget will be allocated for the reconstruction project of the international airport Begishevo, 250 km from Kazan. The airport will become and an additional airport for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the representative of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Republic of Tatarstan Nailya Kleveeva told Welcome2018.com.

According to Kleveeva, he reconstruction is carried out on the basis of the state contract between the Federal Air Transport Agency and JSC “Trest Kamdorstroy”. “The modernization of airfield infrastructure includes reconstruction of the apron and taxiways. The reconstruction works of the airport complex “Begishevo” has become particularly relevant in connection with its importance as an additional airport for the 2018 World Cup in Russia,” she said.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Republic of Tatarstan, the reconstruction of the airport is also necessary for the development of the industrial production in the Kama Innovative Regional Production Cluster.

 The main load during the 2018 World Cup in Tatarstan will account for the Kazan International Airport. The large-scale reconstruction of this airport, construction of new cargo and passenger terminals were carried out for the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan.
