Championship among fans may be held in Russia during 2018 World Cup

An international football tournament among fans may be held in Russia during the 2018 FIFA World Cup  Russia™. This was announced by the president of Russia Unites, the club of the Russia national team Eduard Latypov.

"The regulations regarding the international tournament of fans is currently being considered by the Russian Football Union (RFU), as we are launching this project under its auspices," said Eduard Latypov. "We are considering the dates of the final stage to be scheduled between the World Cup group stage and playoffs  - June 29-30. In addition, we have an idea to organise a large-scale qualifying tournament for 48 matches, which will be held in host cities. Currently we are drafting for the Russian team. "

On July 1, 2017 Saint Petersburg hosted a tournament among the fans of the national teams of Russia, Italy, Cyprus, Cameroon and Chile on the eve of the final match of the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017. It also included mixed teams composed of residents of Africa and Latin America. The Italian team won the tournament, defeating the Russian fans in the final match with the score 1 - 0. One of the organizers of the competition was the Russian Football Union.

World Cup matches will be held from June 14 to July 15, 2018 at 12 stadiums in 11 cities of Russia: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don, Saransk, Volgograd, Kaliningrad and Ekaterinburg. The draw for the final stage of the tournament will be held in Moscow on December 1.
