Christie’s to display painting of Leonardo Da Vinci’s pupil in Moscow

Christie’s auction house will host an exhibit, displaying art pieces to be sold at the autumn and winter auctions held in Moscow 12 to 15 November, according to the statement made by the company’s Russian press office.

Three more paintings, designated for private sale will be displayed in the Old Masters’ Art. This includes Madonna and Child With Mountain Landscape, authored by one of the most famous Leonardo’s pupils Bernardino Luini’s. The Meeting of Joseph and Jacob by Frans Francken, Abraham Govaerts and Hans III Jordaens, and Willem van de Velde’s Morning Salute: Small English Vessel Salutes as a Barge Leaves.

The Russian Art auction will present Vasily Sitnikov’s Self-portrait With Crows by the Kremlin, 1970, currently in private Italian collection (market price of 96-120 thousand pounds), as well as a section of decorative and applied arts – a Faberge cigarette box gifted by Nicholas II to the French aviator Len Morant (estimated price of 40 to 60 thousand pounds).

Alexey Yavlensky’s Girl, 1912 (1.5 to 2.5 million pounds) from the collection of German art dealer and collector Otto Stangl, along with Joan Miro’s Woman and Birds in the Night, 1968 (3 to 5 million pounds) will be displayed in London at the Impressionist and Modernist Art and Surrealism Art auctions 2 February respectively.
