The Russian Ministry of Sport agreed on the marginal cost of the construction of the Kaliningrad stadium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Vice-Premier of the Kaliningrad region government Alexander Rolbinov told Welcome2018.com. “The Ministry of Sport has agreed on the marginal cost of the stadium in Kaliningrad - 18.5 bln rubles,” Rolbinov said.“The exact amount will be known after the findings of the state examination. I would like to thank the Russian Minister of Sport, “Russia 2018” Organising Committee Chairman Vitaly Mutko for help with the issues of our facility," he added.
Currently, various works are carried out on the island: soil consolidation, laying building services and communications systems, work on coast strengthening, construction of substation "Beregovaya".
Rolbinov noted that the construction site is almost ready to start the active phase of the stadium construction. “The installation of the boundary perimeter is coming to an end, in accordance with all safety requirements,” he said. “The energy is provided; next week we will receive additional capacities. The contractor is currently preparing to immediately enter into an active phase of construction after the contract is concluded," he added.
Stadium for 35,000 seats will be constructed in on Oktyabrsky Island for the 2018 World Cup matches in Kaliningrad. After the championship arena capacity will be reduced to 25,000 seats.The total area of the island for the stadium construction amounts to 140 hectares. In addition to the football stadium it is planned to construct social infrastructure, housing, parks. The stadium will be built by the end of 2017.
