Construction began on the last (fifth) floor of the stadium Mordovia Arena, which will host the matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The representative of the general contractor Kazan press service Shamil Sadykov wold Welcome2018.com that certain work activities are carried out ahead of schedule.
"Construction workers in some sectors have started the last fifth floor of the stadium, in situ concrete works work are 65% done, 48,000 out 74,000 cubic meters of concrete are laid down," Sadykov said.
According to him, the facility’s interior masonry walls are 36% done, support columns are being filling with installation of the anchors for metal structures. "10 months before the deadline we started installing external engineering networks, and one month before – internal,” Sadykov said.
In situ concrete works on auxiliary buildings are fully finished. Mordovia Arena stadium is being built on the right bank of the river Insar and will be the largest building of the city. It is planned to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2017.
In 2018 Saransk will host four matches of the group stage of the World Cup.
