The construction of the stadium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup surpasses the initial schedule by three months, according to the Management of Information policy of the Rostov region government.
"The construction of reinforced foundation concrete plates for the stadium was completed. Works on the reinforced concrete walls are finished by 32%, reinforced concrete columns – 60%. Construction work is 3 months ahead of the schedule," Minister of Construction of the Rostov region Nikolai Bezuglov said.
Works on reinforced concrete staircases, floor structures, as well as temporary metal constructions are currently in progress.
The deadline for completion of construction works is December 25, 2017.
The stadium for 45,000 seats is situated in the left bank of the Don river. The initial construction cost totaled 20.2 bln rubles, including 19.4 bln rubles from the federal budget. Later, as a result of cost optimization, the construction cost was reduced by 3 bln rubles – the shape of the stadium was changed to oval instead of the initial round; the roofing, entrances to the arena, and the grandstands construction were simplified.
