Construction of three training bases for 2018 World Cup in Stavropol region begins in 2016

In total five training bases will be built in the region of Caucasian Mineral Waters

Construction of three training venues for the FIFA 2018 World Cup Russia™ will begin in the Stavropol region in 2016, according to the regional Minister of Sport Roman Markov.

"In 2016, the Russian Ministry of Sport allocates 45 million rubles to begin construction of training bases in Lermontov and Zheleznovodsk this year,” he said.

According to Markov, the federal funds will be allocated under the co-financing terms, about 20% of the costs will be paid from the regional budget.

Five training bases in total will be built in the Stavropol region for the 2018 World Cup - in Kislovodsk, Essentuki, Lermontov and two in Zheleznovodsk. It is planned to finish the construction before the end 2017. The project documentation for sites in Kislovodsk and Essentuki will be ready by September 2016, the government said.

Training grounds for the Championship will include a football field with natural grass and lighting, locker rooms, hall for press conferences, stands with a capacity of at least 500 seats.
