Glavgosekspertiza Rossii official surveyor has issued a favourable determination on the design of Saransk’s arena, being built for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, including the recently made alterations, welcome2018.com was informed by the press office of the arena’s general contractor and customer/developer, FGUP Sport-in.
The project design package has been modified to accommodate certain requirements for the organization and implementation of security-related operations, as well as the provisions of the Federal Security Service, Federal Guard Service, Emergencies Ministry and Interior Ministry of Russia. Some earlier design solutions were also in need of optimization in light of the recent economic changes. As a result, the stadium will now cost 15,881,424,290.00 rubles to build after the adjustments, which is 50 million down from the earlier costing.
Following the World Cup, the arena will be used by the Saransk FC Mordovia, and will also be available for other sports and all kinds of mass sports events and entertainments.
The area of the stadium building totals 122,137.74 sqm. The highest point of the building is 50.1 m. The facility is easily accessible by public transit from the north-eastern part of Saransk. The arena is 5 km away from the airport, 2.4 km away from the railway station, and 4.8 km away from the bus terminal.
The stadium has three tiers of spectator stalls with a total of 45,000 seats. The stalls are divided into isolated sectors to discourage brawls between fans. When the arena goes into Legacy mode, some stalls in the top tier (about 15,000 seats) will be dismantled, and the newly freed-up space will accommodate health centres and various commercial enterprises.
