Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee (LOC) held an information briefing for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup with representatives of participating countries' embassies - Australia, Germany, Cameroon, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal and Chile. The meeting was also attended by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British Embassy representatives. Britain does not participate in the tournament, but is actively preparing for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™.
The diplomatic corps of the Champions Tournament participating countries, which will be held in Russia from June 17 to July 2, showed great interest in the event.
LOC management, headed by the CEO Aleksey Sorokin informed the diplomatic corps representatives on general issues of preparation for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. Protocol and transport security procedures, visa support, team support services and the prospects for cooperation in the field of communication were discussed separately.
During the event the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media representative held a Fan ID presentation. Diplomats learned about the procedure to obtain Fan ID and the features of this project. The briefing was also attended by Russian ministries and representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Federal Security Service and the Federal Agency for Tourism.
After the presentation part was over, a Q&A section followed. Diplomats were very interested in different aspects of the 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2018 World Cup preparation and conduct. Both parties supported this interaction format and agreed that LOC will organize a briefing which will feature more of the participating countries embassies as and when necessary.
