The Board of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has no doubt that all the 2018 FIFA World Cup facilities in Russia will be commissioned in time, according to Chris Unger, Head of FIFA's World Cup Office.
Joint delegation of the FIFA and the Local Organizing Committee "Russia-2018" came to Volgograd, visiting the construction site of the stadium.
"In an hour we went through the construction site and saw that the governor of the Volgograd Region is well-versed in the construction of not only the stadium, but also the entire infrastructure, which is being prepared in Volgograd for the 2018 World Cup. We are certain that in Volgograd, as well as in other regions of Russia, all facilities for the World Cup will be completed in time. It is great that we saw everything with our own eyes – we saw how the way the plans will be brought to life," Unger said.
"We treated this visit of the FIFA with full understanding of the situation,” Governor of the Volgograd region Andrey Bocharov said. “The Volgograd Region is getting ready for the World Cup as planned; we have no delays, resolve all issues in time. I head a working group, which we have for these purposes. We had resolved all the problems with documentation that we had before,” he said. Bocharov also proposed to open the stadium for the 2018 World Cup with a match of youth teams.
