Michael Boxall scores own goal, first goal of 2017 Confederations Cup

New Zealand defender scored own goal after Russia national team midfielder Denis Glushakov's shot, making it the first goal of the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017. 

The opening match is held at the Saint Petersburg stadium. Notable persons at the game include Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Russia 2018 LOC and Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko, General Director of the Russia 2018 LOC Aleksey Sorokin, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, FIFA General Secretary Fatma Samura and legendary Brazilian footballer Pele. 
The Confederations Cup will be hosted from June 17 to July 2 in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi. Russia will play in Group A with New Zealand (June 17, Saint Petersburg), Portugal (June 21, Moscow) and Mexico (June 24, Kazan). Group B consists of Germany, Chile, Australia and Cameroon. Teams in first and second places in groups advance to semi-finals. The final match will be held in Saint Petersburg July 2.
