The first flight between Volgograd and Ekaterinburg - two host cities of the 2018 FIFA World Cup is Russia - was conducted on February 18 by the passenger aircraft of the company Rusline airline, according to the spokeswoman for the Volgograd airport Tatiana Fomicheva.

“After more than two years, flight connection between the capitals of the two regions - Volgograd and Sverdlovsk regions - was resumed. This air bridge becomes particularly important in connection with the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, since Volgograd and Ekaterinburg are participating,” Fomicheva said.

Flights from Volgograd to Ekaterinburg will be performed twice a week on the aircraft Bombardier CRJ-100/200, designed for 50 passengers. The estimated travel time is 2 hours 30 minutes, and the price of a one-way ticket is about 10,000 rubles.

The administration of the Volgograd region noted that the opening of the direct flight connection Ekaterinburg-Volgograd-Ekaterinburg will allow passengers to establish business contacts, get acquainted with the sights of the host-cities of the 2018 World Cup, as well as take advantage of convenient flight connections to Blagoveshchensk, Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Nadym, Novosibirsk, Noyabrsk, Uray and Ufa.
