Football call fountain to appear in Rostov-on-Don before 2018 World Cup

A fountain dedicated to the football fans will be installed in Rostov-on-Don, the city administration press service told Welcome2018.com. The proposal was made by the participants of the round table held in the administration of Rostov-on-Don. Fountain in the form of a football ball will be installed on Oktyabrskaya Square in the Pervomaisky district. The project is currently awaiting the approval of the fountain by Rostov-on-Don regional Deputy Governor Sergey Gorban. The participants of the meeting noted the importance of the fountain prior to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

"This fountain will remind Rostovites the fact that in few years they will witness the grand event," fountain designer Anton Popkov said. The fountain opening on Oktyabrskaya Square will become the next stage of improving the district. An underground walkway was opened in May, decorated with the photos of the city during the Great Patriotic War.

During the round table discussion the representatives of the Botanic Garden of the Southern Federal University have offered their projects for planting greenery in the city. They put forward the idea of creating a tourist cluster in the city and the region on the basis of the Central Botanical Garden.

"The Southern Federal University is ready to develop the concept of a single green landscape of the city using the latest technologies and experience of plant introduction in the Botanic Garden," Evgeny Aydarkin, director of the Academy of Biology and Biotechnology at the Southern Federal University said.

The participants of the round table agreed that the greening of the city must be done with using conifers, evergreen trees and shrubs that will keep the city beautiful all year round.

Rostov-on-Don will host five World Cup matches. Four group meeting to be held on June 17, 2, 23 and 26, and one match of 1/8 of the final on July 2. New football stadium will be built for the tournament with 45,000 seats. During the 2018 World Cup it will be called "Rostov arena."
