Four training bases for the teams participating in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia will be built in the Stavropol region in the resorts of the Caucasian Mineral Waters, Minister of Physical Education and Sport of the region Roman Markov told welcome2018.com.
Two training fields will be built in Zheleznovodsk, one - in Kislovodsk and another – in Lermontov.
"The cost of one field is estimated at 134 million rubles, over 536 million rubles in total. 80% of the financing will come from the federal budget, 20% - from the regional budget," the Minister said.
According to him, the regional budget provided 52 million rubles to co-finance the start of construction.
Each base will be equipped with a football field with natural grass, stands with at least 500 seats. During the World Cup, teams will be staying in the territory of the Caucasian Mineral Waters resort. At the time of the matches, the teams will fly to the venue of the game from the Mineralnye Vody Airport or use other means of transport, and then return to the base.
"In total, 64 such bases will be created in the country. Perhaps, we will have a fifth base, if some region cannot cope with the preparation," Markov said.
