The Football Lesson entitled Towards the Confederations Cup of FIFA 2017 was held in all 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ host cities.
At schools and universities LOC volunteers who will take part in the Confederations Cup organization, told the students about upcoming tournaments, football stars and continental champions who will come to Russia in less than a month.
During the lesson, children took part in quizzes and sports warm-ups under the leadership of the host cities ambassadors, famous football players and athletes. Lesson participants also received a surprise - a video message of the 2002 world champion and the owner of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2005, legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldinho.
The guests of the football lesson at the Moscow school No. 1293 were the Head of the Moscow Sports and Tourism Department Nikolay Gulyaevv, newly defended champion of Russia, midfielder of the national team and captain of Moscow Spartak Denis Glushakov, as well as actor, showman and World Cup ambassador Sergey Belogolovtsev. The last two became participants of a friendly football match between the Moscow city volunteer team and the school team.
In Saint Petersburg, World Cup ambassador, Mariinsky Theater soloist Vasily Gerello and FC Zenit player from the late 1990s and the early 2000s, Denis Ugarov, took part in a football lesson. A total of about 200 schoolchildren gathered for the lesson.
"Children actively asked questions about football, how athletes work in a team, how much they need to train to become a good football player," the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Saint Petersburg media service reported.
At the end of the lesson, Gerello and Ugarov signed a soccer ball and donated it to the museum of Gymnasium No. 369 of the Krasnoselsky District.
In Volgograd, football lesson was held in the Yu.A. Gagarin Lyceum №5. Pupils of football sections - from 3 to 11 grade - took part in the Confederations Cup interactive presentation and played football with Rotor-Volgograd. The audience of the unusual lesson exceeded 100 people.
The guests of the Lyceum were the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on preparing and holding the World Cup 2018 in Volgograd region Marat Mirsaitov and World Cup host city Volgograd ambassador, Rotor ex-player Aleksandr Nikitin.
In Nizhny Novgorod, lesson was held in the school No. 121. It was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Sport of the Nizhny Novgorod region and World Cup Volunteer Center, players of FC Olimpiets: Anton Khazov and Dmitry Polyanin, World Cup host city ambassadors: commentator Pavel Zanozin and Olympic champion Darya Shkurikhina.
The lesson consisted of two parts. Initially, the students listened to a lecture about the upcoming tournaments and communicated to the invited guests, and then, in the second part of the session, they had a workout with athletes, who showed several soccer exercises and played a two-way game.
In Saransk, an interactive football lesson at school No. 24 was conducted by a friendly volunteer team - the director of the World Cup volunteer center Irkyam Surkova and the head of the City Volunteer Preparations Center Kirill Komarov.
At the beginning of the lesson, the school principal Sergey Stepanovich Suraykin received the Krasava ball, and he gave the first pass to the children of the school football team. An integral part of fans activity - the wave that the schoolchildren launched together with the leaders - helped everyone to feel the atmosphere of the stadium.
The quiz devoted to the Confederations Cup showed that the guys are not just waiting for a sporting event, but they are also well aware of all the events happening in the world of football, and the girls know football history no less than boys. All the winners of the quiz received prizes from the ANO Directorate on preparation and staging of the 2018 World Cup: polo, baseball caps and blind bracelets with the symbols of the 2018 World Cup.
The lesson ended with a master class from FC Mordovia football players. A full training for schoolchildren was conducted by Egor Sysuev and Ilya Kuzin. "A little tired, but felt like real athletes," young players shared their impressions.
In Samara football lesson was held in the school No. 58. First, theoretical program was presented to the eight grades - Volunteer Center activists together with the guests of honor gave a presentation about the Confederations Cup and the World Cup. Among the guests of honor were the veterans of the PFK Krylya Sovetov Evgeny Getsko, Vladimir Agureev, Viktor Yaprintsev and Valerian Panfilov, the Krylya Sovetov training center coach Vladimir Shkreba and the goalkeeper of the Deaflympic Evgeny Konyukhov, as well as the Deaflympic football champion, the silver medalist of the Europe Championship and the bronze medalist of the World Cup, Honored Master of Sports Sergey Dorkichev.
"For many people professional, big football begins with the schoolyard, so I wish that today's holiday and the entire World Cup became a step on the road to the football world, for those of you who want to dedicate their life to it" said Sergey Dorkichev. Also I'm very glad that the Volunteer Center activists already help us all feel the approach of grand football events with their actions and events, and during the tournament, I am sure our volunteers will help all the guests and participants of the world championships to feel comfortable."
During practice section, students got to play. School No. 58 team withstood a nearby school No. 92 team. The match between the teams ended with the score 4 - 4.
At the lesson in the Kaliningrad school No. 31, created on the basis of I. Kant BFU, World Cup Volunteer Center activists told schoolchildren about the tournaments to be hosted by Russia in 2017 and 2018, about football stars and continental champions.
At the end of the football lesson, all those wishing to take part in the quiz dedicated to the tournament, and the most active ones won memorable prizes with the World Cup mascots. Also at the school stadium friendly matches took place between the school No. 31 specialized sports 6D grade, pupils of the boarding school No. 7 and the winners of the All-Russian Olympics of the Special Olympiad in mini-football, and veterans of FC Baltika. The winners of the small tournament received memorable 2018 World Cup badges.
At the end of the event Svetlana Truseneva, the acting Minister of Education of the Kaliningrad Region, on behalf of the LOC, awarded the schoolchildren with the official ball of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 with the autograph of Natalia Ishchenko, the ambassador of Kaliningrad at the 2018 World Cup.
In Sochi, the lectures were held at school No. 26. The lesson was conducted by the Volunteer Center director of the Sochi State University, Sergey Cheremshanov. Volunteer recruiting and training was conducted in this university. In a month they will work at the Fisht Stadium, where on June 19 a match between the national teams of Germany and Australia will take place.
"Children have understanding. Of course, not everyone, but there are football enthusiasts who answered questions right away. There were some children who called the national teams that will play in Sochi. For me, of course, it's nice that children are interested in football and also the Confederations Cup, "said Sergey Cheremshanov, director of the Volunteer Center of the SSU.
In Ekaterinburg, activists of the World Cup Volunteer Center, created on the basis of the Ural Federal University, together with World Cup 2018 City Volunteers Preparation Center activists held a football lesson for students of gymnasium No. 176.
The event was attended by the ambassador of Ekaterinburg at the World Cup 2018 quadrocyclist Sergey Karyakin, FC Ural players, as well as the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sverdlovsk region Leonid Rapoport.
After the end of the lesson, activists together with Ural football players held a work-out warm-up, where they showed the basics of football techniques. Also eminent guests gave an autograph session.
In Rostov-on-Don, the lesson was held at school number 77. A video presentation was shown to schoolchildren about the first Confederations Cup in the history of Russia, preparations for the 2018 World Cup and basic football knowledge.

"Football Lesson" is a Local Organising Committee project, which is implemented with the participation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Volunteer Centres. The lessons started in December 2015 as part of the Generation-2018 program, designed to unite football fans around their interest in the tournament and the basic social values of the game: mutual respect, healthy lifestyle, and the principles of fair play. In total, since 2015, about 10,000 lessons have been conducted in schools, universities and orphanages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ and FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 host cities and other regions; more than 200,000 schoolchildren and students took part in these events.
