Great Britain offers help to Ekaterinburg authorities in preparing for 2018 FIFA World Cup

According to the Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk region Andrey Sobolev, the region is ready to cooperate with Great Britain

The Consul General of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Yekaterinburg Martin Fenner proposed to the local authorities on behalf of the United Kingdom to provide assistance in preparing the region for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

"Russia demonstrates a big potential in implementing infrastructure projects connected with sports events. It was proved by the Olympics in Sochi, as well as by the World Aquatics Championships in Kazan. The British side will cooperate with the Sverdlovsk region with great pleasure in preparing the region for 2018 FIFA World Cup," the press service of the Ministry of International and Foreign Economic Relations of Sverdlovsk Region quoted the diplomat as saying.

The Sverdlovsk region’s Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations Andrey Sobolev noted that the region is ready for work together with Great Britain on preparing for the global sporting event. "Great Britain is one of the world’s leaders in preparing for sporting events on the international level, including on construction of necessary infrastructure," he noted.

The matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums located in the 11 cities across Russia - Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Sochi, and Rostov-on-Don.
