Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Russia proposed to make student dormitories into hotels for a time of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Vice President of the Federation Vadim Prasov told Welcome2018.com.

"We have proposed authorities to renovate dormitories and make them into hotels for the time of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. It is difficult to say what market share will such hotels occupy. A special marketing research needs to be conducted,” Prasov said.

He noted that these hotels will be low-budget and will help to create elasticity of supply in the market during the 2018 World Cup.

" Renovating student dormitories would prevent mass construction of obscure hostels for the world championship. The development of hotels-dormitories should depend on the kind of matches the cities will host. For example, Germany - Italy match will present one situation, Venezuela - Mozambique - another. I want to emphasize that such low-budget accommodations are interesting not only to fans from the developing countries, but also European and American football fans."

According to Prasov, the program of adapting student dormitories to hotels should be long-term. "Putting in order the entire fund of student dormitories in the regions will create a base, which can be useful for both organizing committee, and the students themselves," he said.
