Works on the program "My Street" in Moscow are ahead of schedule, the central streets of Moscow that fell under the program are finished, according to the Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

"Under the contract, most of the streets will be finished on August 25, the main streets are already opened, only minor works are left, we are well ahead of the schedule," Sobyanin said in an interview with Govorit Moskva radio station.

The Mayor note that 130 years ago the City Council made a decision to excuse the homeowners from works on improving embankments, bridges, sidewalks. "It was decided that the city takes it upon itself. The officials have studied the experience of Europe, have found that it was necessary to put granite on the streets, and was done best in Finland and Sweden. Firstly they reconstructed the street that we are currently working on,” the Mayor said.

According to Sobyanin, 2% of the city budget were spent on these works. The renovation program this year included around 60 addresses. The work on 27 streets are completed.
