FIFA President Joseph Blatter has commended the work done by the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Local Organising Committee. FIFA Weekly quotes the organisation president:
The World Cup matches will be held from 14 June to 15 July, 2018, on 12 stadiums in 11 Russian cities: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Ekaterinburg, Samara, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don.
The Russian team will play group stage matches in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Samara. The final will be held in Moscow at the Luzhniki Stadium.
Preliminary Draw show
25 July the Preliminary Draw was held at the Konstantinovsky Palace in Saint Petersburg. The show was highly praised by the attendees, who said they were impressed by what Russia has to offer.
The International Federation of Association Football has passed a resolution assuring full support of Russia hosting the World Cup 2018. Joseph Blatter reaffirmed FIFA’s "trust and confidence in Russia for the organisation of this competition”. He added: ““We say, ‘Yes’, to Russia. Our support is especially important during the current geopolitical situation.”
