The former Samara Krylia Sovetov striker, TV anchor and Match TV broadcaster, Evgeny Savin, became Samara ambassador to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™.
On Friday, Savin visited the Samara Arena construction site, which will host the matches of the world championship.
"Samara is a football city and now it will have such a classy modern stadium," the ambassador said. "I am always glad to be here, my career in the "wings" we even recalled with Leonid Slutsky during our meeting in London. It was a wonderful time, and I'm incredibly glad that I will be part of the team of Samara ambassadors as the host city of the World Cup."
After seeing Samara Arena Savin will meet with participants of the City Volunteers program, and in the evening at the Metallurg stadium he will come out at the football field to play in the traditional match dedicated to the Samara club birthday.
On May 13, at the Metallurg stadium, before the Russia Championship 28th round match between Krylya Sovetov and Zenit in Saint Petersburg, an official ceremony of signing the agreement and a press conference will take place. Together with Evgeny, Samara region government representatives will take part in it. Fans will see the ambassador and on the main field. Before the start of the live broadcast on the Nash Football (Our Football) channel, Savin will come up the field and perform the first kick of the ball.
Evgeny Savin signed a contract with Krylya Sovetov in January 2008, moving to the Samara team from the Perm Amkar. The contract was designed for four seasons. For the Samara club in 2008-2011, the player spent 96 matches in the national championship, scored 19 goals and became a fan favorite. For his dedication and warm attitude to the fans and the city, Evgeny is still loved by the Samara football fans.
