Kuban authorities: training fields for 2018 World Cup in Adler to be ready by year-end

Construction will begin in May

Construction of three training fields in Adler, which will be used during the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be completed by the end of 2016, according to Vice Governor of the Krasnodar region Nikolai Doluda.

“In May, we will begin construction of three training fields in Adler, and by the end of the year they will be ready. We have eliminated all shortcomings that were pointed out. It is safe to say that everything will be ready in time,” Doluda said.

Last weekend joint delegation of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the Organizing Committee "Russia-2018" visited Sochi. According to Chris Unger, Head of FIFA World Cup Office, a lot was already done in Sochi in preparation for the Confederations Cup and the World Cup. "We understand that the work is in progress. It is important to us that all the FIFA requirements are met," he said.

The reconstruction deadline for the Sochi stadium Fisht was moved from June to November 2016, due to the changes in the federal program for prepare for the World Cup. According to the program the stadium will be equipped with 5,000-seat temporary grandstands. In total, more than 3.8 bln rubles was allocated for the reconstruction. It is expected that three test matches will be carried out in the arena before the Confederations Cup.
