Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo arrived on a friendly visit to Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. The visit is aimed at strengthening ties between Paris and Kazan, as well as boosting tourism, culture and sports development.

Accompanied by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Hidalgo visited the Kazan Arena stadium, which will host 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ matches. Mayor of Paris confessed that she was very interested in Kazan's success in bidding events for major international competitions.

The guest was told how the sports venues had been employed during the 2013 Summer Universiade and 2015 World Aquatics Championships, how they were being currently operated, and how the capital of Tatarstan had changed over the past ten years. "What you have shown and told us is terrific", the Kazan administration media service quotes Hidalgo."For me as the Mayor it was particularly useful to learn how to make use of the legacy of sporting events after their completion. Kazan is a great example of how to organize the work so that the facilities built for the championship were not idle, and were utilized as efficiently as possible and popular among citizens of all ages."
