The Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation officially recognized eSports as a separate sport, and cyberfootball is a discipline of football. This was reported by the Russian Football Union (RFS) media service.
"The RFS reacts promptly to the current trends of the sports world," said Aleksandr Alayev, RFS Director General, "The recognition of cyber football as the discipline of football was the result of well-coordinated work of our colleagues. I would like to note the contribution to the cyberfootball development of the Russian Premier League leadership, which developed into the organization and holding of several tournaments in this discipline."
As was noted by the media service, the RFS has already begun work on the preparation of the first in the history of the official all-Russian mass competition in cyber football.
