More than 100 volunteers to gather at Russian forum of 2018 World Cup volunteers in Volgograd

The forum participants will take part in training sessions aimed at developing leadership qualities and teamwork

The Volgograd State University opened the first National Forum of volunteers "Towards the Championship." The head of the volunteer center of the Volgograd State University “Proryv” Ivan Radko told Welcome2018.com that more than 100 volunteer centers activists came to participate in the forum for preparing volunteers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

"Head of the Volunteer Department of the Organizing Committee" Russia 2018" Tatiana Gomzyakova will participate in the forum and its opening,” Radko said. “On the first day volunteers will discuss the interaction of volunteer centers at the round table, and then will attend training seminars and workshops on various aspects of volunteer work at the World Championships," he added.

The second stage of the forum will take place from November 13 to November 15 in a recreation center near Volgograd. The forum participants will take part in training sessions aimed at developing leadership qualities and teamwork.

The Volgograd State University volunteer Center Volga "Proryv" is a platform for attracting and selecting volunteers from the Volgograd region for the 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2018 World Cup. The center will prepare about 1,300 volunteers. This will include students, young workers and all the people that will meet the basic requirements of the volunteer program.

Training in 40 major areas will take about 3 years, the press service of the university said.

On October 14, the Sports Ministry awarded Russian universities with certificates. These universities will be set up training centers for volunteers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia. Mutko presented certificates to 15 heads of higher education institutions, representing 11 cities that will host Championship matches.

In total, more than 20,000 volunteers will be involved in the events of the 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Attraction, selection process and training of volunteers will start in the second quarter of 2016.

The matches of the 2018 World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15 at 12 stadiums in 11 cities of Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Ekaterinburg, Samara, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don. The Confederations Cup will be held from June 17 to July 2, 2017, in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi.
