Moscow Children’s Zoo to be reconstructed in time for the 2018 World Cup

The Children’s Zoo (part of the Moscow Zoo dedicated to the little visitorsWelcome2018) is expected to open by the summer of 2018, according to the Moscow Zoo General Director Svetlana Akulova.

"We prepared a reconstruction concept for the Children’s Zoo and already announced a tender to select a contractor to perform construction and installation works," City Hall press service quoted Akulova as saying.

The reconstruction will take no more than a year to complete, with works to be done in the first quarter of 2018.

The main idea of the zoo’s new concept is to create an educational environment.

One of the old buildings will be reconstructed into an children’s information and education centre.

New trees will be planted on the territory, new cafes and fountains will be built along with a climbing wall, a trampoline, swings, slides and houses for animals.
