Before the end of 2017, new road with two or three-level interchange will be constructed in Nizhny Novgorod. The road will connect Strigino airport and the nearest subway station. Minister of Transport and Highway Nizhny Novgorod region Alexander Gerasimenko told welcome2018.com that the project costs more than 4 billion rubles.

"We will conduct a reconstruction of Molodezhnoe Avenue, and then built a new junction that goes to the airport,” Gerasimenko said. “The road will have several levels, one of which will be high, with direct access to the airport. It will be a straight run from the airport to the subway station. There will be four lanes, two-level interchanges to minimize time spent on the road," he added.

Gerasimenko added that the funding for the project will amount to 4.251 billion rubles, where 90% is federal money, and 10% - regional. According to Gerasimenko, construction works are planned to start in the spring of 2016; the road will enter into operation before the end of 2017.

"At the moment we have designed the entire road map. If we talk about entering the construction site and the auction, we will have to sign a deal with the contractor approximately on April 11, 2016," Gerasimenko said.

In 2018 Nizhny Novgorod will host six matches of the World Cup: four meetings of the group stage, one 1/8 match and a quarter-final match.
