New tourist routes for guests of 2018 World Cup developed in Mordovia

Celebrations in the framework of the World Tourism Day was held on Millennium Square in Saransk. The square was turned into a unique “travel island.”

"We planned this celebration of the World Tourism Day so that the city residents and visitors could receive full information about tourist services in Mordovia,” Minister of Culture of the Mordovia Republic Vladimir Sharapov told “We tried to represent at this event all the culture institutions, souvenirs from our craftsmen.”

Various fields, where everyone could participate in workshops of craftsmen of the republic and the surrounding region were open for the residents and visitors of Saransk: making a national doll “Nyaka”, wood carving and other.

“We will be ready to show guests the unique culture of our region at the World Cup,” the Minister said. “Saransk is a beautiful city. All the cultural institutions here have been renovated and have a modern look: Museum of Fine Arts named after Stepan Erzya, National Theatre, Opera and Ballet Theater. The reconstruction of the Mordovia Republic Russian State Drama Theater is in progress, the magnificent building of the museum and archive complex will soon open its doors,” he added.

Sharapov noted that the republic's authorities are preparing for the arrival of fans of the 2018 World Cup. "I think that the tourists, who will come here in 2018, will not only visit Saransk. They will be interested in Tavlin School of woodcarving with a spectacular museum of wooden toys, cultural centers in the villages of Staraya Tezimorga and Atyashevo, Ardatov Local Lore Museum. There a lot of places in Mordovia that support and revive the rituals and traditions of the Finno-Ugric world. We carefully develop new tourist routes for the World Cup with the emphasis on the culture of the Mordovian people. For tourism it will be interesting not only to see the rituals but also to directly participate in it,” Sharapov said.

The exhibition-fair "Mordovia Souvenir" presented a wide variety of souvenirs, tourist and cultural brands of the Republic of Mordovia, held competitions and workshops, Admiral hotel hosted  master class "Mordovian cuisine " from the chef and staff of the travel agency "Veter Stranstviy”, as well as prizes-for-all lottery and awarded contestants of the drawing competition "Me and the Summer" with prizes.

Well-known performance groups from Mordovia performed on stage throughout the day.

Guests got to know the beauty and diversity of national cultures at the festival "Wreath of friendship", they were eager to try dishes of the Mordvinian cuisine, pancakes were especially popular, presented by the restaurant "Mordovian farmstead."
