The official presentation of the logo and the trophy of the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia was geld in Moscow. The ceremony, dedicated to 500 days before the start of the tourna,ent was held in the GUM department store. Russian Sports Minister, of the Russian Football Union and the chairman of the Organizing Committee "Russia-2018" Vitaly Mutko, the mayor of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, General Director of the Organizing Committee "Russia-2018" Alexey Sorokin, pianist Denis Matsuev and football fans among the Russian artists and show-business stars attended the ceremony.
Christian Karembeu, 1998 world champion and 200 European champion as a part of the French national team was the main guest of the ceremony. Moscow theater "Quartet I" actors Leonid Baratz and Rostislav Khait hosted the event – they are also a part of the judges’ team of the contest for the logo of the 2018 World Cup.
Introducing the logo of the 2017 Confederations Cup, Vitaly Mutko talked about the impact of the Russian national character, "The logo of the Confederations Cup is the predecessor of the World Cup, so we had to create a logo based on the emblem of the 2018 World Cup. Vitaly Mutko also expressed hope that both the Confederations Cup and the World Cup will help the world to learn about Russian cities. "I am sure that we will have the atmosphere of celebration during the Confederations Cup and the World Cup. A huge legacy will remain after the championship, old clubs will be revived. For example, we have a plan for the reconstruction of the Sochi professional football club. We hope that through the 2018 World Cup the world will discover other Russian cities as well, not only to the host cities,” he said.
General Director of the Organizing Committee "Russia-2018" Alexey Sorokin noted the successful experience of the Confederations Cup in Brazil, and promised that the tournament held in Russia will be at least as good, "The 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil was the most productive. It is considered the most successful in terms of ticket sales – 800,000. We have something to aspire to, but with our attitude, we will try to show the results at least as good. According to Sorokin, the sale of tickets for the 2017 Confederations Cup will begin immediately after the draw: "We expect the end of December. I cannot say anything about the price yet.” It is expected that special ticket prices will be introduced for the Russian fans. "We offered to the FIFA to make 680,000 tickets for the Confederations Cup,” he added.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin talked about the city being ready for the Confederations Cup. 2017 Confederations Cup
