Over 60 commuter trains in Moscow region to be outfitted with free Wi-Fi in 2016

Passengers will be able to buy the ticket with their phone

General Director of the Central Suburban Passenger Company Mikhail Khromov announced that over 60 commuter trains in Moscow region will be outfitted with free Wi-Fi in 2016.

“We’ve analyzed the results of the pilot project and decided to add this feature to 65 commuter trains by the end of the year,” the spokesman noted.

The company also expects to use a unified e-payment system to allow passengers to purchase tickets with their smartphones. Other plans include launching a mobile app. Passengers will be able to utilize NFC to use their smartphones as commuter passcards.

The app will allow users to keep in touch with scheduling and fare rates.
