FAN ID is a personal card for spectators, which is necessary to attend matches of the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. FAN ID was issued free of charge for every football fan and together with relevant tickets granted access to the Tournament of Champions matches.

Citizens of Russia have ordered 90% of all FAN IDs: among them are residents of more than 1,700 locales, including Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Moscow, Sochi, Moscow Region, Krasnodar, Samara. Further in descending order follow fans from Chile, Mexico, Ukraine, Germany, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, USA, China, Nigeria, England, Armenia and Tajikistan. In total, more than 100 countries from all over the world are on the list.

Among those who registered for FAN IDs there are 70% of men and 30% of women. The most numerous group of fans was represented in the age group of 25-34 years (35%). 13% of those who received FAN ID were younger than 17 years old, 2% were over 65 years old.

From June 7, 2017, citizens of foreign countries entered the Russian Federation via FAN ID without issuing visas. Technical support centers were opened for them in Moscow (Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo International Airports), Saint Petersburg (Pulkovo International Airport), Adler (Sochi International Airport) and Kazan (Kazan International Airport). Technical support was also provided at road and sea border crossing points.

13 thousand foreign citizens entered Russia using electronic form of their FAN ID, after which they received a FAN ID card.

By the beginning of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 matches, 11 stationary city FAN ID issuing centers operated in Russia: three in Saint Petersburg, two in Moscow, Sochi and Kazan, one in Krasnodar and Kaliningrad. The stadiums have opened additional FAN ID issuing centers in the form of tents. In them, new viewers could register to receive FAN ID, and previously registered - to receive the document itself. It was also possible to replace the damaged or restore the lost FAN ID.
