The first match of the St. Petersburg stadium will be held between Zenit and Ural football clubs, said the Head of the preparation for the World Cup in football and hockey of the St. Petersburg Physical Culture and Sport Committee Evgeny Gagonin. The game will be held on April 23.

In summer the arena will host 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup games, including the opening match and the finals.

“Three matches will be held at the stadium before the Confederations Cup”, Gagonin said “The first one will take place on April 23 between Zenit and Ural.” Next games will take place on May 7 and May 17. All three games will be held with the participation of Zenit FC.

According to Gagonin’s comments, 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup training grounds preparation is on schedule. "Preparation of the two existing training grounds -Petrovsky and Smena - is on schedule. We are building a training ground at Mettalistov avenue from scratch, we plan to place it in commission in April, transfer to FIFA in May. Another two training locations - in Zelenogorsk and Pavlovsk - are being prepared for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. They are already under construction and mounting works", - he added.
