Project of training ground for 2018 World Cup in Svetlogorsk to be developed in Kazan

The project of a training ground for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia in the city-resort of Svetlogorsk (the Kaliningrad region) will be developed by the Institute for Engineering Transport Facilities (Kazan), according to the official representative of "Management for Kaliningrad-2018" Vitaly Makarov.

Development of design and working documentation for the training field will be completed in November 2016. The beginning of the construction works is scheduled for March 2017, the commissioning date – May 2018, Makarov said.

According to the technical assignment, in addition to the training ground, a sports complex with a training field of 105x68m meters with turf, stands for 500 people, a parking lot and an office building will be built in Svetlogorsk. After the football tournament, natural lawn should be replaced with an artificial one, and the base itself will be transferred to municipal sports school.

In addition to the training ground, stadiums Selma, Lokomotiv and Mirny (Pioner) in Svetlogorsk and Kaliningrad will also be used during the matches of the 2018 World Cup. The arenas will be reconstructed and will also be used as training fields.
