Rospotrebnadzor to strengthen quarantine control at the airport in Ekaterinburg during the 2018 World Cup

An additional medical reserve facility for 890 people was built in the city.

Employees of Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Sercive for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare) in Sverdlovsk region will strengthen the control on border checkpoints in Ekaterinburg’s Koltsovo Airport during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, according to the organization’s press service.

"During the 2018 World Cup we will strengthen at checkpoints on the state border in the international terminal of Koltsovo Airport. To prevent the risk of importing infectious diseases, the sanitary-quarantine station will be equipped with stationary and portable thermographs. At the time of the championship, the station will also be reinforced with additional employees," the press service clarified.

In the unlikely case infectious diseases do appear in the city, authorities have opened an additional medial reserve facility which will be able to bed 890 people, according to the organization.

"It should be noted that because of the region’s endemicity, we will be giving out recommendations to the organizers concerning the anti-insect and anti-mite treatments," Rospotrebnadzor said.
