Saint Petersburg World Cup stadium passes state evaluation

First matches are to be held in the spring of 2017

Glavgosexpertiza, a federal agency carrying out state evaluation, has approved the modified construction project of the Saint Petersburg stadium which will host matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Construction.

"A road map for corrective actions was drawn up under the supervision of the Ministry of Construction, which aims to fix shortcomings discovered by the state evaluation. The documentation is to be shortly sent to Glavgosexpertiza," the press service quoted the First Deputy Minister of Construction Leonid Stavitsky, who heads the coordination and supervision of the preparation of and compliance to stadium project documentation work group.

It was previously reported that the arena would be operational by December 25. The new stadium will be ready to host first games in the spring of 2017.
