Spanish cuisine wins cook-off between prospective World Cup 2018 participants

The event was held during the 9th International Culinary Salon Eurasia in Ekaterinburg from 8 to 10 September

The team who represented Spanish cuisine won the World Cuisine prize at the Eurasia International Culinary Salon in Ekaterinburg. The competition was held between national cuisines of countries which may participate in the World Cup 2018.

Mekerova Olga, head of the food services department of the Sverdlovsk region Ministry of Agriculture told “One of the features of the Salon was teams from various cities of Russia making three meals in the style of countries participating in the World Cup. The team from Sverdlovsk region, who cooked Spanish cuisine, received the highest marks from the judges. The second place went to the team representing New Zealand cuisine. Russian cuisine was placed fourth, above German cuisine”.

She added that this competition was part of the World Cup 2018 preparation: “Sverdlovsk region is gearing up to welcome guests and participants of the World Cup, and to feed them. We’d like our chefs to get acquainted with cuisines of other counties. This experience will be used when preparing food during the World Cup”.

9th International Culinary Salon Eurasia was held in Ekaterinburg from 8 to 10 September. Over 120 cooks of various specializations from Russia and chefs from other countries participated.
