Emergency response workers to speak with Confederations Cup guests in six languages

EMERCOM employees are learning to speak English, French, Chinese, Spanish and German

Employees of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergency Management and Natural Disasters Response (EMERCOM), providing security at the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017, will communicate with athletes and fans in six languages according to the EMERCOM media service.

"EMERCOM employees, providing security at the sites of events, training and accommodation during the Confederations Cup are being taught six foreign languages. They are learning English, French, Chinese, Spanish and German," the media service said.

More than 250 specialists have already passed the express English course. "During each duty shift of crisis situations control centers of the host-cities there will be one certified specialist with knowledge of a foreign language 24/7. Translators will carry out telephone communications in foreign languages and provide written, oral, simultaneous translations," the media service noted.

In addition, more than 150 students of linguistic faculties are expected to be involved as volunteers during the Confederations Cup.

According to the EMERCOM, the personnel of the department and volunteers involved in ensuring the safety of the Confederations Cup matches have vast experience in major international events, which was acquired during the 2013 Summer Universiade and the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, the Sochi Olympics, various major events in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
