Third operational FIFA visit to Russia to be held from April 4 to 14

The third operational visit of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) in Russia for the preparation of the stadiums for the 2018 World Cup will be held from April 4 to 14, according to the press service of the Organizing Committee "Russia-2018".

The delegation will visit stadiums in six host cities of the 2018 World Cup: Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Volgograd, Samara, Ekaterinburg and Sochi. In Sochi, with the help of a virtual tour and presentations, the delegation will get acquainted with the progress and the possibilities of the other arenas of the World Cup (in Kazan, Kaliningrad, Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, and Saransk).

CEO of the organizing committee "Russia-2018" Alexei Sorokin, Colin Smith, FIFA's director of competition, and Head of FIFA World Cup Office Chris Unger will head the delegation. It is reported that the main purpose of the visit is not assessment of the progress of construction of the arenas, but discussion of the stadiums’ operation during the event.

The joint delegation includes experts in stadium design, preparation and carrying out competitions, security, transport and so on.
