UEFA Executive Committee member: Russia is putting great effort in preparing for 2018 World Cup

Russia is putting great effort in its preparations to host the 2018 World Cup, according to the Croatian Football Federation President, UEFA Executive Committee member and the 1998 FIFA World Cup Bronze Medalist Davor Suker.

"Russia is a huge country with a developing infrastructure, while Croatia is a country with a population of 5.5 million," Suker said. "It’s amall in size, but it has great football results, our national team qualified for the world’s biggest tournaments 11 times. We want to work with Russia. Our national team was placed in a very difficult group during the qualifying stage for the 2018 World Cup, but I hope that we will be able to get to the tournament in Russia."

"I also feel and see the quality of the work done in Russia in preparation for the World Cup. And I wish the Russian team the best at the European Championship, I wish for them to qualify and to meet us in the semi-finals," he added.

The World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15, 2018 at 12 stadiums in 11 Russian cities.
