Utilities will be completely renovated by the end of 2016 near Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, which is currently under construction for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, according to Nizhny Novgorod Vodokanal Director General Alexander Prohorchev.
"In 2016, the company is upgrading 53.8 km of utilities in Nizhny Novgorod -twice the volume of last year. Investment will exceed 500 million rubles. Restoration and relining of utilities in the area of the stadium under construction is one of the major projects,” he said.
According to Prohorchev, four sewage collectors will be built and reconstructed for reliable operation of the pressure-proof wastewater disposal system at the stadium. Reconstruction and modernization of water infrastructure in the area of road construction from Nizhny Novgorod airport to the metro station “Park Kultury” (Avtozavodskii district) is also planned in this year’s preparation for the World Cup to reduce the travel time to the stadium.
The construction of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, designed with 45,000 seats, began in early March 2015. It is planned to complete the construction works by November 2017. In total, 63 billion rubles will be allocated for the preparation of the Nizhny Novgorod region in 2018, including 17 billion rubles for the construction of the stadium. The remaining funds will be used for the construction of sports facilities and transport infrastructure.
