2018 World Cup countdown clock launched in Volgograd

In Volgograd, on the upper terrace of the 62-y Armii naberezhnaya (embankment), near the Art Fountain, the BUD Alcohol Free 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ countdown clock was launched.

The BUD Alcohol Free countdown clock launching ceremony was attended by representatives of the city and the region administration, the sponsor company, and the 2018 World Cup host city Volgograd ambassador, Aleksandr Nikitin.

"The Volgograd region is intensively preparing to host 2018 World Cup matches, the first one is just over a year ahead," said Arkady Grushko, chairman of the Committee on preparation and holding of the championship's matches in the Volgograd. "We all see how the city is evolving, and today a new symbol of the approaching Championship appeared in Volgograd. We are launching a countdown clock together with the FIFA sponsor so that all residents and visitors of the city can literally count minutes before the start of the first home world championship in the history of Russia."

Quizzes, competitions and various football attractions were organized for the guests of the event. The most active ones have received memorable gifts from the organizers.

"Holding the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Volgograd is a unique opportunity, an important experience and a real pride for all the citizens," said ambassador Aleksandr Nikitin. "Today, when we started the countdown clock, we sensed the approach of this historic event even more."
