A two-month lag in the construction of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia was eliminated.
"We were not behind on the schedule for the start of the constriction, but on the supposed beginning - that is, we had to start two months earlier than we had started, these two months have already been eliminated," the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Valery Shantsev said during the inspection of the construction site. He noted that the construction workers built up a good pace for concreting the foundation plate, which must be finished by November 15 - a month ahead of the schedule. The construction of the columns for the first floor has already begun - four columns are filled.
"Now the most difficult moment is preparing the documentation. Construction workers are ahead of schedule, and we will demand that the project developers are also on schedule in order to match the timing of those who works with the construction workers and the people who control quality,” he said.
Earlier, the Governor said that the foundation of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium would be ready in a month - by November 15.
The construction of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, which will host 45,000 people, started from scratch - the contractor started works on the site in early March of 2015, the facility construction is scheduled to finish in November of 2017. 63 bln rubles were allocated for the preparation of the Nizhny Novgorod region in total, including 17 bln rubles for the stadium construction. The remaining funds will be used for the construction other sports facilities and the development of the transportation infrastructure.
