Local Organising Committee Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko and the Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov discussed Moscow Region readiness to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™.
"Today's meeting satisfies us, the governor and the government are doing everything necessary, most sites are undergoing installation works, we have no questions," Mutko said.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Moscow Region will prepare and hold the World Championship at a high level. "Each facility is thought over to the smallest detail in terms of heritage for youth sports," he said.
The meeting participants inspected the Avangard Stadium, which will become one of the bases for the World Cup participating teams.
There are 17 training bases located in the Moscow Region. They will be offered to the teams for training and accommodation during the tournament (one of them is reserved for the Russia national team). According to the governor, fields preparation will begin in April.
"In April modernization and construction works will begin at the sites, we understand that turfs are the most important part. City improvement is also part of the plan," Vorobyov said.
