Vladimir Putin: Russia to hold Confederations Cup 2017 and World Cup 2018 at the highest level

Russian president thanked the head of FIFA Gianni Infantino for supporting and assisting Russia's preparations for the upcoming tournaments

The Russian side will do everything to complete the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 and 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ venues construction in time, Russian President Vladimir Putin promised.

"We will do our best to ensure that both facilities and conditions of stay in Russia, as well as everything related to servicing of a large number of fans, spectators, and athletes are carried out at the highest level," he said during a meeting with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Krasnodar.

Russian president personally thanked Gianni Infantino and FIFA for supporting and assisting Russia's preparations for the upcoming tournaments. "Football development is one of the most important reasons for granting the right to host the World Cup to such countries, where there is still some space for improvement, and there are goals that still need to be achieved in the development of sport and the development of football," Russian president said. He was also pleased that FIFA positively assessed Russia's preparation for the football competitions.

Vladimir Putin noted that Russian side is making sure to provide satisfactory conditions for both football fans and athletes. He also drew Mr. Infantino's attention to the fact that in the preparation for the Confederations Cup and the World Championships, Russia provides a significant part of the attention,and allocates considerable number of stadium space to foreign guests.

Before the meeting, Vladimir Putin and Gianni Infantino inspected the new stadium, as well as the Academy of Football Club Krasnodar, accompanied by the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko. High guests strolled along the football field, and talked with the World Cup volunteers.
